Drugs Seized on the Turnpike

The State Highway Patrol seized drugs from 3 vehicles after traffic stops on the turnpike this week.

    Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 148 kilos of cocaine, valued at $14.8 million, following a traffic stop in Lucas County. Troopers stopped a motor home, with California registration. A probable cause search revealed the 148 kilos of cocaine located in a steel compartment in the floor of the motor home.

    Troopers stopped a 2001 Toyota Camry for a speed violation, near milepost 97, in Sandusky County. Criminal indicators were observed and a probable cause search revealed 20 pounds of hydroponic marijuana, worth $100,000.

    Troopers stopped a 1988 Buick LeSabre for following too closely violation, near milepost 134, in Lorain County. Criminal indicators were observed and a Patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed one kilo of cocaine and half-a-kilo of heroin, each worth $100,000 each, and 181 Xanax pills, worth nearly $1000.
